A set of four early 19th century earthenware lion paw furniture supports, in a 'Rockingham' treacle glaze.
These are often referred to as sash window supports, however there is no evidence of this and given the tops have a slight lip it is more likely they were used as supports for furniture such as a table or a dresser to raise the legs off flagstone floors and thereby protecting from damp.
