A large Measham Bargeware Teapot, with applied decoration of peacocks, thistle and flowers and a central motto 'Forget Me Not', the lid with teapot finial within a castellated rim.

This type of folk art pottery was made in the last quarter of the 19th century at Church Gresley in Derbyshire and is associated with narrow boats. The term Measham refers to the shop on the canal at Measham where the barge people could order bespoke pieces of these wares inscribed with individual names or mottoes.
