A Samson of Paris 'Worcester' Blue Scale Ground Oval Basket, circa 1900, with flower encrusted twin rope twist handles, the reticulated sides painted with flowers, the centre of the bowl painted in enamels with an exotic bird amidst foliage within gilt rococo borders.
Founded in 1845, Edmé Samson et Cie, specialised in making reproductions of ceramics on display in museums and private collection, including those by Chelsea, Meissen, Sevres, Worcester and Chinese export porcelain items. Samson is often confused with the originals but are of good quality and collectible in their own right.
In very good condition with no restoration, the enamels and gilding remain bright, some slight edge nicks to the flowers.
