A rare and interesting armchair by Airborne Industries dating in Art Deco style dating from the 1950's, with panelled back and octagonal seat upon castors, the underside bearing the label for Airborne Industries. Upholstered in it's original peach damask type fabric.
Airborne was the trade name of Lea Bridge Industries who were manufacturers of aircraft seating. Post war the company starting making luxury lounge furniture upholstered over a tubular metal frame using the production techniques of aircraft seating. (see the illustrated insert from Grace's Guide )
The upholstery is in good, clean, condition, however I can arrange re-covering with my upholsterer - the chair would look very good in an Art Deco design fabric more suited to its styling.
