Victorian Button Back Armchair for recovering

Victorian Button Back Armchair for recovering

Code: 0008

SOLD

A very nicely shaped and good quality antique button back armchair for re-covering, circa 1870, the iron framed back over a serpentine shaped seat and moulded show-wood front stretcher with central carved detailing, upon carved and shaped front supports and original brass castors.

This type of iron framed back is usually a sign of quality - the iron frame giving a certain amount of spring to the back making it extremely comfortable.

Obviously the chair if for re-covering but no remedial work necessary.  The springs and horse-hair stuffing are good with no lumps or bumps to the seat.

88cm high, the seat is 65cm wide at the front, 57cm deep and 36cm high.
