A vintage Korean elm & pearwood brass mounted morijang cabinet, the panelled top over four small drawers and two cupboard doors enclosing a paper lined interior with pages of script and within a border of various plain panels raised on scroll feet, the brass hinges and lock plate of butterfly form.
86.6cm high, 96 cm wide x 42.7 cm deep.
Morijang cabinets first came into use in the late 18th century and were used as beadside chests near the mattress in the women's quarter for storing lingerie and small accessories.
