An Antique French homespun hemp / linen farmer's smock, circa 1900, totally hand stitched with pin tucking at the neck and cuffs, buttoned bib front with a cotton fabric collar and button cuffs. Discovered in an armoire in darkest South West France!
This is a wonderful example of a rustic French smock in very good condition. It has a patched panel on the right shoulder (see photograph) which adds to its charm. The homespun fabric is an unbleached creamy white colour, is thick and strong and very clean throughout.
