A charming papier mache Edwardian advertising standee for 'Fox's Frames' Paragon Umbrellas, circa 1915, in the form of a seated fox under an umbrella, upon wooden plinth base.

This would have been used for advertising purposes in retailers selling Fox's umbrellas.

NB: Fox's umbrellas were founded in London in 1868, introducing wire framed umbrellas in the 1880's, which up until then had been made of whalebone. They have supplied  prestigious brands, retailers and customers worldwide including Alfred Dunhill, Fortnum & Mason, Hackett, Harrods, Turnbull & Asser, Ralph Lauren, Bloomingdale and Barneys in New York, the British and Japanese Royal families, and the late President J.F. Kennedy. Also making for film companies, television and stage, notably the famous John Steed umbrella in the Avengers.

Fox's are still in business in London producing hand-made umbreallas.
