An unusual and surreal collection of ten hand painted wall masksplaques depicting mythological characters of the Nuxalk First Nation from the Bellacoola region of British Columbia, Canada. Including: `Thunder`, `Rainbow` and `Full Moon`.
These masks are made of a hardened rubber or latex based material and were possibly made as part of an exhibition or even for a fairground or sideshow. They appear to date from the 1950`s and are probably unique. Condition: some paint losses, cracking and defects commensurate with age and hardening of the rubber.
