An Italian 18th century trompe l'oeil architectural panel, painted with a ribbon tied cartouche and foliage.
The panel originated from a palazzo nearTodi in Umbria, Italy. It appears to have originally been part of a painted staircase, these being several of the treads and designed to be viewed from above.
Painted on thick planks, re-inforced on the back and with a metal bar attached to enable the panel to be hung,
