An interesting Hand Made Brass Gentleman`s Desk or Cufflinks Box, made by Pierre Gallou circa 1960, who was First Master and Armourer on the French Naval Ship Jean d`Arc. The Jean d`Arc was built in 1930 and after the war made 27 world tours in a diplomatic and teaching capacity. She was decommissioned in 1964, Pierre Gallou made 3 round the world trips and made the box in the workshops on board. The attached black and white photographs show pictures from the ship`s year book for 1963, with Gallou in the front row, 3rd from right.
The spring-loaded lid is activated by pressing the guns down and the gun rotates on the wooden base.
