A very pretty 19th Century French Directoire Daybed Bed, the carved frame painted in cream and pink and upholstered in toile de jouy. The slatted base has been made to fit the interior and is supported on wooden batons which can be easily removed.
The paintwork is not original but is not recent. Condition is good overall, there is old worm damage to the bottom underside of the front stretcher and one of the finials has previously been off and has been repaired. It has various chips and wear to the paintwork. The fabric is in good, clean condition. The bottom row of gimp is missing on the back panel but is not visible when a mattress is on the bed.
Size is a small double and will take a mattress of 122cm (4') wide x 190cm (6'2") long.
Height: 116cm high at the centre back and sides and 122cm to the top of the finials.
Outside measurements are:
206cm long x 135cm wide.
