A North European table top painted pine casket, late 17th or early 18th Century, with arcaded front and iron carrying handle to the top and bearing the date 1650. The interior with fancy strapwork hinges and ornate wrought lock with engraved decoration and a candle or `till` box with lift up lid. The whole upon sled runners. The lock is operated with two keys (one of which is repaired).
The paint finish is most certainly antique, but probably not original to the box.
