A superb Antique French hand painted and applique work portiere dated 1888. Of mustard coloured wool hand painted with a leaf decorated pillared arch supported by columns capped with winged cherubs. With a portrait roundel to the top corners, the right hand example dated 1888. The velvet applique work is hand painted with foliate swags emanating from a lions mask and applied with corded rope detailing throughout. Lined in a mustard coloured cotton backing.
In generally good condition, some of the ropework cording is missing and detached in places.
