A pretty Antique French Metis Linen Monogrammed Dowry Sheet. Hand embroidered in thick, raised stitches with the initoals M.L., within an oval cartouche above a dragonfly and multiple ladderwork borders.
In good condition, one small brown mark which could probably be removed with laundering.
Metis is a mixture of linen and cotton and is the traditional French sheeting fabric. It is thick and hardwearing and lasts a lifetime. Unbleached, it is considered ideal for those with allergies, keeping you warm in winter and cool in summer.
