A large Persian Shiraz Quashqai carpet, mid 20th Century, the central lozenge medallion within a large polygon field filled with stylised birds, plants and guls within serrated borders, the corners with guls and stylised plant motifs on a blue ground and within a wide hooked motif outer border.
Typically carpets with this type of design were woven by settled or semi-settled Quashqai nomads in the Shiraz region of Southern Persia.
