A French Louis XVI Style Carved and Painted Low Bookcase / Cabinet, circa 1900, he moulded top over a glazed central door and two doors with brass grilles flanked by moulded quarter columns, the three section interior fitted with adjustable mahogany shelves, raised on channel moulded feet. The brass grilles are original to the bookcase and have brass bars to the top and bottom of the interior doors to enable fabric to be hung behind the glass and grilles. The paintwork is a pale French grey green, is original and on a mahogany carcass. An extremely heavy and good quality piece.
