A Dutch Dome Top Oak Marquetry Marriage Chest / Coffer, dated 1801. the front with the inscription 'Christian Elvers Anno 1801' above two raised octagonal fielded panels profusely inlaid in various woods with a pair of birds flanking tulips and surrounded by vases of flowers, birds and foliage, the panelled sides with huge cast iron carrying handles and pierced backplates. The dome with cast iron hinges opening to reveal a candlebox with 'secret' compartment.
In excellent condition and of good colour.
