An Antique French Monogrammed Metis Dowry Sheet, circa 1900, embroidered with the initials I.B.
Made from two panels of linen/hemp mix joined down the centre with hand worked stitches which dates it prior to 1925 when the hand looms were not wide enough to make sheets out of one piece of cloth.
A thick and tactile, medium weight, sheet good for use as a bed sheet but would be fantastic fabric for a throw, curtains or upholstery.
184cm wide x 264cm long. Each initial measures 8cm x 5cm and are worked 58cm from the edge of the sheet
