A lovely Vintage French Metis Linen Sheet dating from the very early 20th Century. B eautifully hand embroidered in thick raised stiching with the initials GM entwined with flower stems with a drawn thread-work hem.
In excellent condition, very nice thick metis with lots of texture.
184cm x 263cm, the initials measure 15cm high max

Metis is a mixture of linen and cotton and is the traditional French sheeting fabric. Beautifully tactile, it improves with use and will last a lifetime.
These sheets were traditionally embroidered as part of a bride's trousseau - this particular sheet comes from S.W. France
