A rare and unusual watercolour sketch of a meteor dated 13th November, 1803, with `scratched-through` highlights. 12.5cm x 6cm.
The appearance of the meteor (or shower) was reported in The Monthly Magazine, 1804, Vol. 17, page 6. It appeared at about 8.30pm and was witnessed in several places including Greenwich and Soho and was characterised by a group of around 5 smaller balls travelling behind it. It was also said to be audible.
