A Victorian hand tinted ambrotype of a young girl, circa 1860, her lips, cheeks and hands tinted in pink and her bible and buttons picked out in gilt, within original gilt metal foliate frame and the slip with a cross-hatched design and foliate edge.

NB: The ambrotype an early form of photography, also known as a collodion positive in the UK, is a positive photograph on glass made by a variant of the wet plate collodion process. Like a print on paper, it is viewed by reflected light. (Wikipedia)
